The final payload specs have arrived. We anticipated that the 2020 Ford Super Duty models would have a higher payload than the previous model. The 2019 Ford F-250 hauled up to 4,332 pounds. The max payload of the 2020 F-250 is 7,850 lbs. That's next level hauling capability.

2020 Ford Super Duty Changes

The biggest changes with the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty include the additional engine that increases towing capacity. The new Super Duty has a refreshed design with a new grille, headlights, interior materials, colors and trim inserts. There's also a new off-road model available, the Tremor. Plus, Ford added other technology features to further complement the Super Duty such as a new powertrain option with a more capable transmission and driver-assist technologies.

2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor Package

The 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty gets a new Tremor package. The upgrades include a shorter airdam, 2-inch front lift, 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires, fuel tank skid plates, transfer case skid plates, twin-tube shocks and locking rear differential. It also contains a low-speed cruise control, rock-crawl mode and limited-slip Dana differential for maximum off-road capability. It's available with any trim other than the Lariat and XL, plus it can be added to any engine.

2020 Ford F250 Super Duty Engine Options

The current 6.2-liter V8 engine remains as the base engine on the 2020 F-250 Super Duty. It's paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2020 Ford F-350 receives a new 10-speed transmission instead. There's also the revised 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine, which comes standard on the F-450, but is optional on both the F-250 and F-350. It produces more than the existing 450 horsepower and 935 pound-feet of torque now rated at 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. The biggest news for 2020 Super Duty engines is the high-output 7.3-liter V8 engine paired to a Ford TorqShift 10-speed automatic. It's optional for either the F-250 or F-350.

2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty Technology

The 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty gets some new standard technology. All models include a Wi-Fi hotspot and 4G LTE modem. There's also a new Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature available. It adds some assistance while reversing with a trailer attached. Standard safety features on the XLT models and higher now include automatic high-beam control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitor plus trailer coverage, pro-trailer backup assist, trailer reverse guidance, 360-degree camera, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection and forward collision warning.

2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty Interior/Exterior

The Super Duty interior is getting a refresh. We are not sure of the details, but new interior materials, color options, and trim inserts have been confirmed. What we know about the 2020 F-250 Super Duty exterior body style, for now, is that some cosmetic modifications were performed. Expect a redesigned front bumper and a larger grille. This is meant to bring more air into the powertrain. The dual-rear-wheel truck models also get an even larger grille for maximum airflow capacity. Ford restyled the tail lights while also redesigning the tailgate. The Super Duty truck now has LED headlamps and taillamps. These modifications might change the exterior dimensions of the 2020 Super Duty but the change won't be significant.

2020 Ford Super Duty: F250 vs. F350 vs. F450

The biggest differences between the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty vs. F-350 vs. F-450 boil down to the engine options, towing ability, GVWR and exterior dimensions. When it comes to the different classes of trucks, such as Class 5 or Class 6, gross vehicle weight ratings play a role if your job requires a certain truck weight limit. As you move up the chain of F-Series trucks, the trucks typically increase in weight. The F-600 will weigh more than the F-250. The 2020 Ford F-250 comes standard with the 6.2-liter V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission. With a 2020 Ford F-350, users receive the same standard engine but receive the ten-speed automatic transmission instead. We don't have exact towing numbers yet, but assume, as with previous years, there will be a big difference in maximum towing capability between the Super Duty models.
